Rio de Janeiro. Soak up Rio de Janeiro's unique atmosphere with most of the day at leisure. In the evening, embark on a romantic sunset cable car ride up to the majestic peak of Sugarloaf Mountain, where sublime views await. A Taste of Rio de Janeiro – later this evening, head to a local restaurant to sample Brazil's national cocktail, the caipirinha, before enjoying a delicious Brazilian BBQ dinner. Enhance Your Journey: Enjoy a leisurely drive through the local favelas, or take a guided tour of some of Rio de Janeiro's most significant historical sights (see pages 76-77). BD Day 8. Rio de Janeiro. Head to Corcovado Mountain and visit the astonishing statue of Christ the Redeemer at the peak, absorbing the breathtaking views from the top. The rest of the day is yours to relax or further explore this vibrant city. Enhance Your Journey: Tonight, you may like to experience the city's nightlife or take in a spectacular samba show (see pages 76-77). B Day 9. Rio de Janeiro, Iguassu Falls (Brazil & Argentina). Fly from Rio de Janeiro to Iguassu Falls, a system of 275 falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. On the Brazilian side, experience the majesty of World Heritage-listed Iguassu National Park with a half-day tour. Walk through the subtropical rainforest and take in breathtaking panoramic views of the falls. Stay (Two Nights): Iguassu Falls, Mercure Iguazu. BD Day 10. Iguassu Falls. On the Argentinian side of the falls, ride the Rainforest Ecological Train to a series of walkways and viewing points. Running through the forest inside Iguassu National Park, this narrow gauge train stops at several locations including one that leads to the 82-metre-high Devil's Throat, one of the most spectacular and stunning falls of the region. Enhance Your Journey: Perhaps board an exciting speed boat safari and learn about the unique flora and fauna of this beautiful region (see pages 76-77). B Day 11. Iguassu Falls, Lima (Peru). Today is yours to explore before flying to Lima this evening to begin your Peruvian adventure. Enhance Your Journey: Before you depart Iguassu Falls, perhaps learn about native bird species at Parque das Aves or visit Itaipu Dam, the world's largest dam (see pages 76-77). Stay: Lima, Wyndham Costa Del Sol. B Day 12. Lima, Cusco, Chincheros, Sacred Valley. Wake early this morning, and fly to the World Heritage-listed city of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. Travel through Cusco to Chincheros, a city located in the stunning Andean highlands. Like a Local – during a traditional weaving demonstration, see how the colourful materials of South America are created by local people, and learn of their importance in preserving ancient traditions. This evening, enjoy dinner at your leisure. Special Stay – soak up the ancient Andean atmosphere and relax in comfort at the premium Aranwa Sacred Valley. Stay (Two Nights): Aranwa Sacred Valley. B Day 13. Sacred Valley. Your Sacred Valley experience begins this morning with a visit to the unique markets of Pisac, a hilltop handicraft village located near various Inca ruins. A Taste of the Sacred Valley – visit the children's project, Munaychay, and enjoy a delicious lunch cooked in a Peruvian earth oven. This afternoon is free for you to relax at your hotel. Enhance Your Journey: Continue your sightseeing in the Sacred Valley with a visit to Ollantaytambo, a town as well as a unique Inca archaeological site (see pages 76-77).
