39 Day 10. Lake Titicaca. Set right on the border of Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the highest altitude lake in the world. Like a Local – cruise over the lake to the home of the Uros people – a group of more than 40 man-made islands created from floating reeds. Enjoy an afternoon of free time before dinner at your hotel this evening. BD Day 11. Lake Titicaca, Lima. Fly back to Lima today. A Taste of Lima – dine at Café del Museo. Stay: Lima, Hotel Jose Antonio Bellavista. BD Day 12. Lima, Quito (Ecuador). Fly to Quito and transfer to your premium hotel. Stay (Three Nights): Dann Carlton Quito. B Day 13. Quito. After breakfast this morning, embark on a guided sightseeing tour of Quito, including its historic Old Town. Here, marvel at the architecture of the Plaza and Monastery of San Francisco, the Plaza de la Independencia (Plaza Grande), La Compañía de Jesús and the Museo de Arte Colonial. B Day 14. Quito Today enjoy time at leisure to relax or explore the vibrant city of Quito. Tonight, perhaps experience the flavours of South America at one of Quito's many restaurants. Enhance Your Journey: visit the artisan markets of Otavalo (see pages 76-77). B Day 15. Quito, Coca, Amazon Cruise. This morning you'll fly to Coca, located in the mighty Amazon. From here, journey downstream by motorised canoe to board the M/V Anakonda. Enjoy dinner this evening then perhaps embark on a nocturnal walk to witness the life emerging in the forest after dark. Stay (Three Nights): M/V Anakonda. BD Day 16. Amazon Cruise. Take a motorised canoe trip up the Pañayacu River. Flooded by white waters, the rivers and lakes here house the infamous Piranha, and Water Monkey Fish. After a swim (for the courageous) or kayak, enjoy a delicious Amazon-style BBQ meal at a nearby camping site. In the afternoon, set out an exploration trail walk before returning on board for dinner. BLD Day 17. Amazon Cruise. After breakfast, set out to visit a parrot lick – a unique area rich in mud, minerals and fauna. Like a Local – visit the Sani Warmi Kichwa Interpretation Centre to gain insight into Amazonian lifestyles along the Napo River. Listen in as Kichwa women speak of their customs, cuisine and everyday life. Later, stop at the Yakukawsay Kichwa Interpretation Centre where expert guides will explain the wonders of the floral and fauna communities. BLD Day 18. Amazon Cruise, Coca, Quito. Today you'll disembark your ship for the final time and transfer by motorised canoe back to Coca. From here, fly to Quito. After settling in to your hotel, enjoy a Farewell Dinner. Stay: Dann Carlton Quito. BD Day 19. Depart Quito. After breakfast, you'll transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
