MARKETPLACE NEW HELLA MARINE LIGHTING WEBSITE Hella Marine have launched a new website with enhanced features designed to help select the right lighting solutions for your vessel. The site has improved navigation and detailed information, including the features and benefits of LED lighting and some key points to consider when purchasing LED lighting. The Lighting Designer feature is a one-stop for all marine lighting enquiries. Product pages are easily navigated and accessible from anywhere on the site. With detailed descriptions of lamp functions, features, and benefits, these key points are also easily identifiable with icons. Product pictures are larger with more detail and include various angles and examples of applications and retail packaging. Catalogues can be either viewed on-line through an innovative virtual catalogue with scrolling pages, or downloaded as a PDF and saved for later. In the Lighting Designer section viewers select from images of trailer boats, motor, or sail yachts, then select from various scenarios with different lighting options available. Contact Hella Marine, phone +64 9 577 0000 or see www.hellamarine.com SIMRAD HSC ARGUS RADAR SYSTEM TO GUIDE PASSENGER CAT The Simrad is the latest system from the Professional Series to be fitted to the 24m passenger catamaran built by Baltic Workboats. The vessel is designed by Australian Naval Architects Incat Crowther, and has a full complement of Simrad systems including a Simrad CS68 ECDIS, AP80 autopilot, WS80 Ultrasonic wind system, and Simrad IS70 instrumentation, all of which will work alongside the new Simrad Argus radar. The High Speed Craft approved Argus is state-of-the- art professional X-band radar, available in 12 and 25 kW configurations, featuring a modular design that enables easy installation. The Simrad HSC Argus system also offers the optional use of up to four X-band scanners, as well as up to two additional solid state Broadband Radar domes, and optional advanced Oil Spill and Ice Detection (OSID) Software. Baltic Workboats are based in Estonia and build vessels up to 45m in length. The company employs over 100 people, manufactures a range of 120 different vessels, and has an impressive production area of approximately 5500 square metres. The HSC Argus Radar will be fitted by navigation and communication specialists Baltic Marine Group, onto a 24m passenger catamaran, which will operate out of Estonia with three crew members, and can take up to 60 passengers. The new 16-litre V8 shares both technology and architecture with Scania's truck and bus engines. The high power-to- weight ratio of Scania's engines make for easy installation and exceptional performance. Scania also has the 13-litre inline six-cylinder unit launched in 2011. Both engines are based on Scania's new state-of-the-art modular engine platform, used for truck, bus, industrial and marine applications worldwide. The new range has been designed for higher strength and durability, efficiency, and very good fuel economy irrespective of operation. Scania has raised maintenance and oil-change intervals to 500 hours. The vee-design engine is compact, has easy-to-fit auxiliaries, and is designed for easy servicing. Ancillaries can be efficiently accommodated inside the footprint of the engine. Each cylinder has its own head, which together with wet cylinder liners makes for easy overhauls in confined spaces. The camshaft is located high in the block and the timing gears are rear-mounted. The Scania Saver Ring, placed at the top of each cylinder liner, reduces carbon deposits on the edge of the piston crown and reduces cylinder liner wear. Scania's centrifugal oil cleaner effectively removes small particles from lubrication oil while reducing the size of the replaceable filter cartridge.
