COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITIES AT AUCKLAND ON WATER BOAT SHOW
VIADUCT HARBOUR, SEPTEMBER 27 – 30 T
he commercial sector of the marine industry is currently its bright, shining light. With leisure marine flat and perhaps even receding, commercial activity; particularly refits, refurbishment and repairs, is down just a tiny two percent. So what does this mean for commercial operators? For a start, commercial business is the prize that companies and suppliers who have traditionally focused on the recreational leisure marine market, will be eyeing to maintain their businesses. This will create greater competition, in turn opening up new opportunities for better service and pricing in our market. The Auckland On Water Boat Show is going to be an opportunity to catch up with all the companies who offer products and services in the commercial sector: engines, engineering, electronics, safety gear, boat and shipbuilding, coatings, stereos and entertainment equipment.
The strong commercial section of the show is a must for commercial operators from small businesses to the larger fleet operators. With everyone in the same place it's an ideal opportunity to get your skates on and talk about new products on the market, servicing and, yes, pricing. There will be major opportunities to get alongside all the key suppliers and service providers in our industry, to research new products, upcoming trends, equipment and ideas.
All the companies we are familiar with will be there: Advance
Trident, Altex Coatings, ENL, Fusion, General Marine Services, GME, International Paints, Raymarine, Safety at Sea, So-Pac Marine, South Pacific Diesel Systems, Transdiesel, Volpower, and Whiting Power. Most are grouped together in a commercial area, making it easy to do the rounds and set yourself up for the next few months, or even the year's business activities! The friendly staff from Professional Skipper magazine will be there in what has become affectionately known as 'the Skipper Cave', so get along and have a chat.
As well as new products being released there are always new ideas and developments being discussed at the show. It's good to catch up with acquaintances face-to-face, and often it is the only time during the year that this can happen.
There will be a range of pre-show seminars as well as a post- show debriefing to discuss ideas for the 2013 show. Make sure you get along to ensure the commercial industry is represented and our voice is heard, ensuring our successful contribution to the marine industry continues in a healthy state.

Guest speakers from the marine community in New Zealand will highlight marine industry trends and show how their use of SolidWorks has helped their companies sustain competitive advantages in the international marine market.
