Our sea trials with tanks pressed up with light ship gave a top speed of 38.4 knots although we would expect a more conservative 37 knots once loaded in working mode and the projected service speed of 25 to 27 knots was looking good. Sound proofing within the machinery spaces was adequate to hush the puppies down below to an acceptable growl as we clipped along at better than service speeds. We note that in addition to the key exterior paint and graphics the hull has been coated in Nyalic to give it the new grey look. Now there has been some debate about giving an added protective coating to preserve the new polished alloy look, or whether it is better to leave it with the dull grey natural patina look. Well, its horses for courses from our perspective. If you are happy with the dull grey natural appearance which tends to look a bit scruffy and 'workboatish' for your pride and joy, one can only say you get what you pay for. But if you have a desire and pride to keep the new boat look, then you need to consider a protective coating. In the case of Nyalic the boats look good and if you do get a bit of localised damage, it is easy to clean and polish the damaged area with a solvent and then recoat without all the problems associated with repaints and epoxies.
