Boat builder Greg Shine at the helm during sea trials
All the windows and doors were designed and manufactured by SeaMac of Whangarei who have developed unique sturdy aluminium framed windows and doors suitable for sea going vessels and marine use. We were fortunate to join Greg during pre-delivery sea trials
before Spot On would head up the coast to her new home near Whangarei.
At first glance on seeing Spot On sitting in the marina berth, it was interesting to note just how much real estate you can get out of a 12 metre boat. The cockpit was expansive with space on the rails for at least a dozen bottom fishers for party trips when catching a feed of snapper. Outside the transom there is a fully fenced and gated portofino stern and boarding platform that gives full protection to the Volvo Penta stern legs below. Above each leg is a lift up hatch to give safe access when needing to clear a fouled duo- propeller or two. Mounted on the stern is a lift up spoke dive ladder outside the gate, so even when the ladder is deployed the gate may be closed to keep passengers safe. Moving 900mm forward is the official transom with another drop-down gate that can be raised to ensure the cockpit is secure at sea. Built into the transom on the port quarter is a large live bait tank with its own viewing window, while on the opposite side is the main bait station and prep board with a drain into a small wash sink complete with hot and cold water. An installed waste-master that operates off the vessel's Alphatron Inverter 240v power supply soon makes short work of the burley. In central position is the game chair, although we feel the vessel is more ideally suited for stand up fishing and it is a breeze for light tackle. As already stated there is plenty of room to move about with the ladder to the enclosed fly-bridge which is centrally mounted. To starboard at the rear of the cabin is a WAECO freezer, and while in this position we note a small Nilssen C400 winch with
