Four new Apps that are so app-ropriate
1
Fast, Fresh and Tasty
Founders of Click Suite, Emily and Rex, created an app giving
ideas for week-night meals. The app is designed especially for
Kiwis using fresh, local ingredients. Free seasonal updates are
put out to keep ideas relevant to the current season. On average, fast, fresh and tasty is being used 13 times a month for
people making decisions on what to make
for dinner. It also features a shopping list
function which can be sorted by recipe or
department making it easier for the user.
The shopping list can then be shared with
others by sending it to contacts
via text or email.

Quicksand
A 15-year-old New Zealand teenager who taught himself
programming at the age of 10 has developed several apps
used by thousands of people in over 80 countries. Sebastian Hallum Clarke's latest application, Quicksand, automatically saves computer files in its storage capacity known as
"the cloud". It can save up to 50 of your most recent files.
Every time you open a file a copy of it is automatically saved
to your chosen cloud storage solution. When a file is saved
to the cloud it is kept available online for the user to access
just in case anything happens to their original piece of work.
Quicksand is an extension of apps like Dropbox and Google
Drive which store only documents selected by the user in
their cloud space.

App used to get cheaper
hotels
Tingo is a booking site which aims to
save travellers money on their hotel stays. Prepayment of the room is
required and it focuses on fully refundable rates. Each day the site will check
to see if the hotel has lowered its rates.
There is a 20% chance of travellers
getting at least some money back; the
usual amount is $50 but one American
woman was lucky enough to receive
$1,874 back! There are also a whole lot
of other apps recently developed which
offer significant discounts. HotelTonight is
one of them; this app releases rooms for
each of the 80 cities it serves so people
can pick up last minute bookings. It is
useful for couples or solo travellers as
room types can't be requested. Some
hotels book out within a few hours once
released as savings can be huge!
