It is a non-government funded charitable trust promoting awareness of breast cancer, providing information and education, and raising funds to support breast cancer related initiatives including research, scholarships, medical grants and community outreach. The Foundation was established to educate all New Zealanders on the life-saving benefits of early detection and the importance of mammograms. Our Pink Ribbon Street Appeal is on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 October this year (2012). Some of the projects we fund include: • in Auckland, Waikato, Christchurch and Wellington. These provide vital information about how women with breast cancer in New Zealand fare and points to ways we can improve breast cancer services and outcomes. • • Breast cancer patient registers and Medical Imaging (Mammography) students. • breast cancer awareness and screening. • life of women with breast cancer by funding organisations such as Sweet Louise and the YWCA Encore programme. • Awareness campaigns to promote Services to improve the quality of breast cancer. Research into better treatments for SWEET LOUISE provides a range of supportive services to empower New Zealand women and men living with secondary breast cancer to improve their well-being and lead more positive lives. The unique voucher-based programme offers members (within the current service areas of Northland, Auckland, Mid-Central and Wellington) a free annual allocation of vouchers to redeem for services supporting both emotional and physical well-being and practical needs. Members living outside of these areas can receive support through the website or by speaking with the Support Coordinators. www. sweetlouise.co.nz Phone: 0800 11 22 77 The WAIKATO BREAST CANCER TRUST is a charitable trust that enables research into breast cancer diagnosis, prevention and treatment in the Waikato area and beyond.
