KAUS HEADWEAR FOR WOMEN LIVING WITH CANCER Kaus hats was started with the vision of helping women suffering hair loss as a result of medical treatment. The Auckland-based company began with the personal journey of designer Kerrin Osborne, whose mother was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. With a treatment plan that included a mastectomy and chemotherapy, Kerrin's mother began a search for headwear to alternate with her new wig, soon finding that her options were very limited. Kerrin has used her extensive experience in the fashion industry and access to on- trend fashion fabrics to create fashionable Heartache From to hats headwear for women suffering hair loss as a result of chemotherapy or other medical treatments. Kerrin's dream is to make you look and feel good when you need it most. "Going through the heartache with mum helped me to recognise the need for women to feel comfortable, feminine and fashionable whilst going through their treatment," says Kerrin. Kaus has a personal and interactive Hat Care Tips Best Care for your Hat: • Always handle your hat by the brim. Avoid handling the crown as much as possible. This is particularly true for straw hats. • Never rest your hat on its brim. Turn it upside down and rest it on the crown. Resting a hat on the brim will flatten-out the brim. • Dust your hat with a soft bristled brush to keep it clean. • Heat will shrink the interior sweatband - avoid exposure to stoves, radiators, lamps and car windows. • Store your hat in a cool dry place to help it to retain its shape and stay clean. Out-of-season, store your hat in a hat box. If your Hat Gets Wet: • Try to prevent your straw hat from getting wet! Water will cause the straw to swell, discolor, and lose its shape. • If your felt hat gets wet, first return the hat to its original shape, then turn down the interior leather sweatband and rest the hat on the sweatband to dry. Avoid resting the hat on its brim while wet. Do not expose a wet hat to heat. Source: www.delmonicohatter.com approach to its business by inviting women to share their stories. Each month the Kaus website features a woman's story and experiences, to build up a network so that other women experiencing similar challenges can learn and grow with them. This is part of what makes Kaus stand out as a company; their approach comes from the heart and from understanding what women are going through. Kaus hats are New Zealand-made, using stunning fabrics and prints. Kaus donates $1 from every purchase to either the Cancer Society of New Zealand or the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. www.kaus.co.nz
