In March this year Bowen Hospital welcomed the Breast Centre; the first dedicated private breast centre in Wellington. Under the direction of Burton King, a breast surgeon who has been
operating in the area for the past decade, the centre was designed with aims to: • work seamlessly with Breast Screen Aotearoa • work seamlessly with Medical and Radiation Oncologists at the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre • track Breast Cancer patients through the chemotherapy and radiotherapy process to provide support and continue long term follow up • be fully integrated with Plastic Surgery Unit for immediate reconstruction • be integrated with Pacific Radiology for digital mammography and advanced imaging on site • provide onsite lymphedema service • provide registrar teaching as appropriate www.bowen.co.nz
