Waikato Half Marathon October 14 Held at the Mighty River Domain in Lake Karapiro, the Waikato Half Marathon is once again proudly supporting the Waikato Breast Cancer Trust. As well as the half marathon option, you can compete in the 10km, 5km and 2km distances, all with both walk and run options. A percentage of all general entry income is given to the Cancer Trust, as well as all entry income generated from the Run4kids event (which adults can join in on too). Everyone is also welcome and encouraged to donate online. $5 from every registration will be donated to the Waikato Breast Cancer Trust. www.waikatohalfmarathon.co.nz Pink Ribbon Ride October 14 Join WIMA for their 9th Pink Ribbon Motorcycle Charity ride and support NZBCF. All motorcyclists, women and men are welcome, as are big bikes, little bikes, spyders, classic bikes, scooters, and trikes. No registration – just spread the word and come along. The event will be held in both Auckland and Wellington on Sunday 14th October. There are prizes for best dressed boy and girl, so come in your Pink Gear. www.wima.co.nz Women's Fly Fishing Expo October 27 To celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Casting for Recovery is holding theWomen's Fly Fishing Expo. Several of the CFR team will be on hand to talk about the programme, as well as world famous fly tier Peter Carty with other FFF fly casting coaches, local fishing guides and a few retailers. The expo will be held on Saturday 27th October, Tarawera Park, Kawerau. For more information contact sherrie@castingforrecovery.org.nz The Waikato Breast Cancer Trust Pink Walk and Pink Challenge October 28 The Pink walk and Pink Challenge event is a 5K walk or run (for Pink Challenge contestants) to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for the Trust. It will be held at Innes Common, Hamilton Lake in Hamilton, New Zealand. There will be promotional and merchandise tents, Starboard Paddle for Hope October 27 The Starboard Paddle for Hope is a fun festival of Stand Up Paddling that aims to raise funds for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. The event is hosted by Karin Horen and aims to promote the role of exercise in health, well-being and rehabilitation, and show there is always hope. This festival is a fantastic opportunity to dress up with all your friends and come along to have a go at Stand Up Paddling. There's also a tent for new mums who need to change/feed their babies, along with a gold coin donation sausage sizzle and free fruit and water to give away.
