On arrival, be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Stay: Negombo, Jetwing Lagoon. Day 2. Anuradhapura, Sigiriya. After breakfast, head to Anuradhapura, where you'll embark on a city tour. Discover the oldest city in the Cultural Triangle, including the well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization. Equally superb are the surrounds, including the beautiful gardens, moats and ramparts. If you are feeling active, perhaps climb the rock fortress for breathtaking views at its summit. Alternatively, discover the rich history of this region on a visit to the Sigiriya Museum. Later, perhaps stop in Habarana and enjoy an elephant ride (refer to page 31 for details). This evening, enjoy a tour of the ancient Polonnaruwa before returning to Sigiriya. BL Immerse yourself in colourful Colombo, Sri Lanka's vibrant capital city Day 4. Dambulla, Kandy. After breakfast, venture to the World Heritage- listed Dambulla Cave Temple. Within the cave complex are incredible Buddha images and rock paintings dating from 200BC until the 18th century. Explore the five caves, containing ornate statues and ancient art relating to the life of Buddha. A Taste of Sri Lanka – enjoy lunch and a cooking demonstration at Spice Gardens, followed by a traditional head and shoulder massage. Later, arrive in Kandy and browse the abundance of handicrafts, fresh food and fragrant spices at the Kandy Market. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel.
