period. Deck surfaces were coated with Interbond 501, a high solids hard wearing epoxy deck finish directly applied over Intershield 300. The foc's'le accommodation provides four bunks with stowage for a kit bag each. While the vessel usually accommodates one skipper and two crew, this leaves an extra bunk for a trainee or an observer as may be required on occasions. From a safety at sea and survival aspect, when all else fails and in the unlikely event of an accident the crew have a RFD Pacific four-person liferaft complete with MSANZ B emergency pack and hydrostatic automatic release unit to fall back on. A key feature, especially for crew comfort, is the Stark designed stabilising fins which have become a feature on all Stark vessels. These fins may be folded away when not in use or alongside, and once deployed they remove most of the roll in moderate sea states, meaning the crew can work longer and in safety around machinery, or when packing fish away down below. So who will skipper this fine vessel, we ask? "We are pleased that Murray McGarrol, known as 'Magoo', and his crew will transfer from the Jubilee to the Legacy. This will give us the opportunity to measure the comparisons on the vessel's abilities, again a tool we use in the ongoing development of our boats," said Andrew. "In fact this is the third new boat that Magoo has skippered for us over the past 12 or so years, so he knows the drill." Finally in closing, all we can add from Professional Skipper magazine is well done team. It's great to see a small local company committed to the New Zealand work and fishing boat industry. One can take pride in showing the big boys what loyalty to the New Zealand community is all about.
