her business network meetings Wellington So what is the art of networking – is it the ability to pass around millions of cards and try to receive back the same quantity? Or is it the ability to talk business in an attempt to get many referrals? Many women ask 'what is networking?' Networking: Creating a group of acquaintances and associates, and keeping it active through regular communication for mutual benefit. Networking is based on the question "How can I help?" and not with "What can I get?" Many have expectations that referrals are built in a day, or at a meeting. The best way I can describe networking is to look at it like building friendships. Are friendships/ partnerships established overnight? No, for many it can take months or years with relationship we look to build trust and credibility. Once someone is comfortable and knows who you are then nine times out of 10, you will then start to receive referrals and business will develop. Networking is where social (friendships are made) and business is supported. Whether you are in your business hour of need, or you are starting a new business, Her Business networks are a great tool, and are one of many support systems available to women in business. Sometimes it's great to come along, help others with your wisdom, or seek advice from attendees. Her Business Wellington has to be one of the best places in New Zealand to come and meet positive like-minded women in business. Those who attend our events come for a purpose; they are wanting to meet new people, or catch-up with those who come regularly to the meetings and listen to some of our outstanding speakers. There are no rules, no games, it's like coming into a group of friends, enjoying some lunch, a cuppa and then being entertained/educated by those who are our keynote speakers. Now is the time to jump on board, attend a meeting and see what opportunities you can come across, or glam up and attend our end of year Greater Wellington Businesswoman of the Year 2011 Awards in December.
