GET THE GOLDEN TREATMENT The use of gold nano-particles in platinum based cancer treatments could soon be employed around the world. Research has shown that the effectiveness of some varieties of cancer drugs could be significantly improved by gold extracts. The nano-particles selectively pick up and drive the drugs into solid cancer tumours. The drug is still in its trial stages but you could soon be seeing gold in a whole new way. Fatty Omega-3 acids could potentially block the path of primary cancer tumours, preventing the advance of secondary cancers. Pharmacy researcher, Dr Michael Murray, says that a life-threatening consequence of breast tumours is metastaisi, where the disease has spread to distant sites. The researchers are aiming to develop anti-metastic treatments based on omega-3. While the treatments are being researched there is no harm in consuming omega-3s through your food; salmon and tuna being highly recommended. Omega-3 is also effective in reducing inflammation and the risk of heart disease and arthritis, so eat up! Recent studies have focused on the effects of red wine and cruciferous vegetables (like green cabbage, mustard and turnip greens, kale, arugula and broccoli). A glass of red wine daily may help decrease breast cancer risk as chemicals in red wine behave similarly to breast cancer treatments. Consuming 100grams of cruciferous vegetables each day is also said to improve the outcomes of breast cancer from a study based in China. To be classed as extremely active, you have to do six hours of house work a day, or the equivalent. Moderately active women who exercise the equivalent of three hours of gardening a day reduce their risk of cancer by 10%. Researchers said the findings were particularly important because doing more exercise is a relatively simple way of reducing cancer risk. They obviously haven't done six hours of housework each day before. Source: The Telegraph
