This morning, travel through grasslands, wetlands, forests and mountainous regions, passing the numerous lagoons, lakes and rivers that dot the coastline. Along the way, stop to discover the subterranean formations of the Cango Caves. Then continue to the town of Oudtshoorn, for a dinner of regional produce including ostrich. Stay: Oudtshoorn, Queen's Hotel. BD Day 5. Oudtshoorn, Knysna Come face-to-face with Africa's enormous flightless birds as you tour an ostrich farm. Enjoy the chance to feed an ostrich by hand and watch an ostrich race by local jockeys. Then follow the curves of the Garden Route to Knysna where you'll enjoy the afternoon to either relax or explore at your own pace. Two Nights: Knysna, Protea Hotel Knysna Quays. B Day 6. Knysna, Featherbed Nature Reserve Enjoy a visit to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, a pristine piece of paradise on the Western Head of Knysna which is only accessible by ferry. Cross the azure lagoon and be met by a park guide who will take you to the very top of Western Head by 4WD. After, you may like to participate in an optional bushwalk. B Day 7. Knysna, Port Elizabeth Continue along the Garden Route, stopping to visit Monkeyland Primate Reserve. Later, continue along the Storms River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park. Then journey through the coastal reserve of Tsitsikamma Forest on the way to Port Elizabeth, one of South Africa's largest cities. Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Stay: Port Elizabeth, Beach Hotel. B Day 8. Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg, Kruger National Park Take an included flight to Nelspruit via Johannesburg. Once you've touched down in Nelspruit, travel by coach to a private concession of Kruger National Park. Arrive at Shishangeni Private Lodge where you will stay for the next three nights in your own thatched chalet with a private game-viewing deck. Excitement reaches an all-time high as you head out on your first game drive through the lodge's private concession. Experience the thrill of looking for the wildlife of Africa in one of the nation's greatest game parks. Enjoy sundowners amidst the African bush before dinner back at your lodge. Three Nights: Kruger National Park, Shishangeni Private Lodge. BD Day 9. Kruger National Park A morning game drive offers you the chance to spot one or perhaps all of Africa's Big Five along with other animals. During leisure time, perhaps make use of the lodge's facilities or relax on your private deck. Your day ends with an outdoor boma dinner. BLD Day 10. Kruger National Park Have you ticked off the Big Five yet? Perhaps you'll sight the more elusive of Africa's creatures on today's game drives. No matter how your safari pans out, you'll treasure another day here in Kruger National Park. BLD Day 11. Kruger National Park, Johannesburg Fly back to Johannesburg. With a free afternoon, perhaps visit Soweto (see page 51 for details). Stay: Johannesburg, Radisson Blu Sandton. B Day 12. Johannesburg, Livingstone (Zambia) Take an included flight to Livingstone in Zambia where you'll stay just minutes from Victoria Falls. Spend the afternoon on a guided walk to view the Zambian side of the falls, before dinner at your resort tonight. Two Nights: Livingstone, AVANI Victoria Falls Resort. BD Day 13. Victoria Falls Enjoy a day to yourself to relax and explore the area around Victoria Falls – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Perhaps revisit the falls at your own pace – it's just a five minute stroll from your resort. Or, you may like to enhance your journey and choose from one of our select experiences. Fly over Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River during an awe-inspiring helicopter or microlight flight. Alternatively, choose to unwind during a sunset game-viewing cruise along the Zambezi River (see page 51 for further details). B Day 14. Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park (Botswana) Cross the border into Botswana and arrive later in the heart of Chobe National Park, home to the largest concentration of game in Africa. As the sun begins to set, you'll head out on a spectacular sunset game-viewing cruise through the lush waterways. This is the best time of the day to see large herds of elephants, as well as a plethora of other animals, that flock to the banks of the Chobe River to quench their thirst.
