42 Day 1. Arrive Cape Town (South Africa) On arrival in Cape Town, be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a Welcome Reception tonight. Three Nights: Cape Town, Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel. Day 2. Cape Town Your first full day in Cape Town begins with a cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain, followed by a city tour. With a free afternoon, perhaps choose from one of our select experiences. Take a ferry ride to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; enjoy an African Heritage Tour; browse handicrafts on a Cape Town shopping tour; or enjoy the floral displays at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (see page 51 for further details). We've left this evening free so you can check out what's on the menu along the busy V&A Waterfront, which is lined with restaurants, cafes and shops. B Day 3. Cape Town, Cape Peninsula Discover the breathtaking Cape Peninsula during a full-day tour. This scenic journey takes you along Chapman's Peak Drive to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. The most south-westerly tip of Africa, Cape Point is covered in endemic fynbos and home to bays, beaches and rolling green hills and valleys. Stop for a delicious seafood lunch then watch the penguins totter along the shoreline at Boulders Beach. Continue to historic Simon's Town for some time to wander at your leisure. Named after Simon Van Der Stel, an early governor of the Dutch settlement, who arrived in the Cape in 1679, Simon's Town is South Africa's third oldest settlement. Van Der Stel chose it as a safe alternative to the stormy Cape coast during winter. Tonight, back in Cape Town, partake in the art of African drumming before enjoying a delicious Welcome Dinner of Cape Malay cuisine. BLD Day 4.
