Companies in the know are actively publishing blog posts/ articles every week. These articles are generating new website content for search engines. Key word searches in Google and other search engines bring up these articles in their search results and this in turn brings traffic to the blog, builds the companys brand and connects them with lots of customers and prospects. Blogs are therefore a highly effective marketing tool as they can bring a targeted audience to your website where your online shop or services and products are promoted. So how do you blog for your business? Here are some of the basic elements of blogging to get you on your way. 1. Before putting pen to paper so to speak, start out by identifying key words relating to your services and products that your intended audience may search on in Google and use these key words in your blog posts/articles. 2. The title of your blog post/article needs a key word 3. Be professional your blog posts need high quality images that appeal to the reader and are relevant to the blog post. 4. As hard as it may be to write blog posts, they must be interesting and have relevant content that they get the desired outcome i.e. the reader shares them due to their appeal. The goal of your blog posts is to get lots of views, which translates to lots of people visiting your blog and website. 54 | www.h e rmagaz i n e . c o. n z 5. Keep it short and sweet the optimum length of a blog post/article is circa 400 words, so the good news is you dont have to write War and Peace. 6. Tags add relevant key word tags every time you write a blog post. The search engines use the tags. 7. Use back-linking once you have published your blog post it needs to be found on other blogs, websites and social media networks. You dont want to be spending lots of time searching and requesting for your link to be put on other channels our Mobilize Mail has a plug in for Word Press that does this for you. 8. Be ethical dont use tactics such as spamming or black-hatting these are tactics that use automated systems to influence SEO (search engine optimization) are working for you if your blog gets de-indexed by a major search engine like Google. Blogging is an ongoing strategy, not just a once off. If managing your blog is not for you, you can still use blogging to market your business. BusinessBlogs will publish your articles and provide a link back to your website. This highly active blog site also has copywriters so you may elect to outsource the actual writing of your blog post.
