Getting behind animal causes in the Pacific
Animal Protection
Society of Samoa
The Animal Protection Society (APS),
founded in 1994, is a non-profit, nongovernment organisation dedicated to
improving the health and welfare of dogs
and cats in Samoa.
The APS runs a veterinary clinic for dogs
and cats, which includes a 24/7 emergency
service, within the Ministry of Agriculture
compound in Avele, Apia, and they also
offer home visits throughout Samoa on
request.
Services at the APS clinic are charged at a
cost-recovery basis. Local and international
sponsors support the wages of local staff
and all other overhead costs.
In addition to their at-cost clinic services,
the APS conducts two free Community
Outreach programs: a humane education
program and a village de-sexing program.
As they are offered free-of-charge, the APS
is in constant need of funds to maintain
these two valuable programs.
