Commissioner
About: The New Zealand High
Commission is an overseas post of the
New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and Trade.
The High Commission
is staffed by a team of 20 diplomats
and local staff. The focus of the High
Commission���s work is managing New
Zealand���s political, economic and trade
relations with the United Kingdom and
Ireland.
Educations/Requirements: It is not
a job that is advertised, you are asked
to be a High Commissioner. Firstly, you
must have negotiated a major piece of
legislation or run a successful national
charity. Secondly, you will be asked to
be on numerous government advice
committees. If you do well there and
there is a vacancy, you will be asked if
you are interested.
Pay: $200,000 (including allowances)

Model
About: Models display and promote
Florist
About: Florists design and prepare
flower arrangements, sell flowers, indoor
plants and accessories such as vases
and baskets.
Education/Requirements: There are
no entry requirements for becoming a
florist, as many skills are gained on the
job. However, employers may prefer
employees to have a floristry qualification
such as a National Certificate in Floristry.
You can get a floristry qualification
through on-the-job training, or studying
at a polytechnic.
Pay: Pay for florists varies depending
on experience. A florist starting out can
expect to earn the minimum wage.
Senior florists with three or more years
of experience usually earn $18 to $22 an
hour.

pamphlets and brochures.
Education/Requirements: Although
there are no specific entry requirements
for becoming a model, some agencies
require prospective models to complete
a modelling course before they start
working in the industry.
Pay: There are no set pay rates for
models, and what you earn depends
on your ability, as well as how often you
work and what type of work you do.
For photographic work, models earn
between $30 and $150 an hour. For
catwalk or fashion parade work, models
earn between $75 and $350 a show. For
New Zealand television adverts, models
earn between $100 and $1,000 a day.
