:new years resolution Jenene Crossan Chief Executive Officer - Flossie.com What has been your high point for 2012? Seeing Flossie.com come to life. Even with two years in the planning it was always going to be a bit of a 'punt' as to whether our theories would translate into transactions. And they have! We're growing at a phenomenal rate and the brand love around us is just inspiring. Women love what we do and we love it so it works out wonderfully! What was the smartest decision you made in the last year? To hire Rochelle Shaw, for sure! She's my right hand woman and I really couldn't do this without her. I'm inspired by her ability to just get stuff done, the way she just gets on with life and is still such a fun, loving person. Doing a start up is lonely; she has made it enjoyable, a pleasure even. What, if any, unfinished business do you have going into 2013? Well this baby is a long way off being ticked off the list! So 2013 is going to be a massive growth year, which will mean a lot of sweat and I'm sure plenty of tears to boot. We'll also be morphing nzgirl even more into the social sphere, so there's some pretty big work to be done there too having two time hungry digital businesses can be.challenging at times. Good people are the key! What was the biggest risk you took in the last 12 months? Launching my fifth digital venture! I seem to not like the quiet life. New businesses are always risky and as I get older my appetite for risk wanes somewhat. It's been a pretty stressful year (understatement of the year). What major indulgence are you willing to experience in 2013? Having another two week holiday with my family! It's always an indulgence and one that requires planning. What would you most like to change about yourself in 2013? I'd like to say a more even and balanced approach to life, but I'd be totally kidding myself! I'm pretty comfortable with me I'm a fine wine, I'm still getting better with age! What are your New Year's resolutions for 2013? Drink less wine and more water, eat better, exercise more, take up yoga and become more even in my approach to life. Just kidding that would take away all the fun. Probably to get good management support so that I can enjoy a bit more of a balanced life though. Ann Sherry CEO, Carnival Australia What has been your high point for 2012? A lot has happened in 2012 but the game changer has been in infrastructure. Garden Island in Sydney (where the Navy are based) provided more berths so that large international ships, such as Queen Mary 2, can visit more often. The redevelopment of Queen's Wharf in Auckland is exciting too as it'll help lure more ships to New Zealand. These changes mean Australia and New Zealand can accommodate more cruise lines and larger ships, bringing more international visitors to our countries and greater spend in the local economy. It's a great win for everyone. What was the smartest decision you made in the last year? By introducing greater workforce flexibility in the office, our staff feel more appreciated which has had significant impact on productivity. What, if any, unfinished business do you have going into 2013? I'm still renovating my house! I was a bit too optimistic thinking it would be done in 2012. What major indulgence are you willing to experience in 2013? I'd like to have a regular massage, at home, to unlock tired muscles from the renovating! What would you most like to change about yourself in 2013? I need to spend a bit more time on my wellbeing. More exercise, more massages. What are your New Year's resolutions for 2013? More exercise, more holidays and finally getting the house finished. 20 | www.h e rmagaz i n e . c o. n z
