Nashville. Head out on your own to further explore the sights of Nashville at your leisure. More than just a heartland of country music, Nashville is home to a number of grand historic homes, museums, attractions and restaurants boasting some of the best food in the USA's South. After your time exploring, rejoin your group for a true highlight of your journey, a visit to The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum this evening. Here, you will discover how country music has evolved over the past two centuries into the genre that is known and loved today. Walk through an array of the museum's dynamic exhibits, view historic country music video clips and listen to the music of the genre's classic greats and more modern favourites. After your after hours tour, you will savour a delicious dinner with your fellow guests in the Hall of Fame's Rotunda. You'll then be treated to a special private performance by a musician relative of the late great Johnny Cash, who will perform the classic songs made famous by the Man in Black himself. This is an event that will appeal to lovers of all music genres. BD AMERICA'S GRAND CAPITAL Day 13. Nashville, Washington DC. This morning, you'll transfer to the airport for your onward flight to the country's capital, Washington DC (flight not included). Be transferred from the airport to your hotel and on your arrival, enjoy dinner with your fellow passengers. Three Night Stay: Washington DC, The Fairmont Washington DC Georgetown. BD Day 14. Washington DC. On a guided tour you will gain an insight into the United States' proud military and political history. During your tour, you will visit Arlington National Cemetery – a famous military resting place established during the American Civil War. You'll also see the White House and visit the National Mall. Home to the Washington Monument; the Lincoln Memorial; and several war memorials, including those for Vietnam Veterans and World War II, the National Mall is also the site of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous 'I Have a Dream' speech. A memorial to honour the Civil Rights leader stands here. B Take a narrated coach tour of the battlefields then drop in to the visitor centre. From here, you can catch the Vicksburg shuttle to further explore this site at your leisure. Later, return to your ship and set out towards the Tennessee city of Memphis. BLD Day 8. Cruising the Mississippi River. Take advantage of a full day on the river today, passing the sights of Arkansas on your left and Mississippi on your right. You might like to take part in some of the many activities, lectures and presentations being run, or simply relax in one of your ship's comfortable public areas. BLD Day 9. Memphis. Disembark this morning in Memphis, Tennessee – the city that many consider to be the home of rock'n'roll. Here, take in the sights during a guided tour. Boasting a wide variety of entertainment and attractions, Memphis has something for everyone. Tonight, indulge in a Farewell Dinner as the cruise portion of your journey draws to a close. BLD THE MUSIC CITIES OF TENNESSEE Day 10. Disembark Mississippi River Cruise, Memphis. Disembark for the final time and transfer to your hotel in Memphis. The day is then yours at leisure. In what is sure to be a highlight of your journey, you will enjoy an after hours tour of Graceland – the former home of Elvis Presley and today a National Historic Landmark. Once you have taken in the fascinating memorabilia that gives an insight into the life of 'The King', you will savour a Southern dinner served by white gloved waiters in the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum, which showcases more than 20 vehicles that were owned by Elvis. Stay: The Peabody Memphis. BD Day 11. Memphis, Nashville. Travel to Tennessee in Nashville where you will take a backstage tour at The Grand Ole Opry House, home to the iconic concert and radio broadcast held each week since 1974. On air since 1925, The Grand Ole Opry is among the longest-running radio broadcasts in history. After a backstage tour here, enjoy a city tour. During this exploration of Nashville, you'll be able to discover the places that have given the city its reputation as the heartland of country music and the nickname 'Music City.'
