Charlotte Devereux has been solving the style problems of pregnant women for years with her label Egg Maternity, a company she runs with her mother, Colyn Devereux-Kay. The two manage to mix fashion with an often unusual size, and also provide practical options for those in the corporate workforce. So on-trend are her designs that Charlotte has often found women continuing to wear her clothes after the baby is born, resulting in her resort line, Charlotte Devereux.
Best Feast I had flown half way around the world to meet my future husband
after having a six month text relationship. Little did he know that I turn into a frantic, scratchy mess if I go more than a few hours without food. It was trains, planes and automobiles as we ran to catch a ferry
from a port in Sicily, just as it was just pulling out of the dock for a six-hour journey to Panarea, in the Aeolian Islands. After missing breakfast I was visualising sumptuous Italian treats to satiate the senses. No such luck, as there was no restaurant on board! As the crew could see my melt down they offered me some
day-old bread. Any thing would do to keep me from losing the plot! Some amazing focaccia appeared sprinkled with rock salt and oregano drizzled with olive oil. They were so delighted with my enthusiasm for what they thought was a meagre meal, more morsels appeared – the most delish ruby red tomatoes with a flavour I can only describe as sublime were enhanced by a dusting of chilli flakes,
and there were tiny cups of espresso coffee. It became a competition between two little old Sicilian gentleman over who could create the best meal. The flavours were incredible and probably heightened by the beautiful setting and falling in love!
Worst Course Age 16, I was in my first trip away from home visiting family
friends in Holland. We were at a picturesque little seaside town doing the tourist thing having pickled herrings, as I was told it was their local delicacy. I was encouraged to hold the herring above my mouth, tilt my
head back and to eat the herring whole. With an audience watching I threw the slimy creature back. I had to do my utmost not to gag as it was so rotten and revolting I can still taste it to this day!
