DUAL-TOUCH GLASS BRIDGE DISPLAYS
KEP Marine's range of glass bridge displays with dual-touch screen functions are available on the KEPM GB series 15in and the 22in wide-screen display, to be followed by
17in and 19in displays.
Users can zoom in and out and skew displayed images with two fingers, the same as with smart phones, including zoom, pan, changing chart display modes and performing numerous navigation functions. The GB series pairs the multi-touch technology with sunlight-readable displays with simplified command processing at the helm.
The technology is compatible with MaxSea Time Zero, and can be used with Furuno and WASSP multi-beam sonar products.

REPLACES PULSE TECHNOLOGY
Lowrance's Broadband 3G continues on from the BR24 Broadband Radar. Objects such as small fibreglass boats and channel markers can be seen from 30 percent further away but also right up until the
moment they pass safely within less than 2m of your vessel. The radar can power up instantaneously from standby and in less than 16 seconds from a full system power down. Power consumption is less than two watts in standby and transmits less harmful X-band radiation than conventional pulse radars.
The Broadband 3G is compatible with Lowrance's HDS multi-function displays and is aimed at small fishing, sailing and pleasure boats to large superyachts and working vessels. "Broadband 3G Radar will undoubtedly mark the beginning of the end of conventional pulse radars on recreational craft," says the distributor, Electronic Navigation. DIESELS SHARE NEW ENGINE PLATFORM
Scania's new range of 12.7 litre marine diesels range in power from 300kW
(400hp) for
continuous use up to 500kW for patrol craft and similar vessels. The DI 13M series is based on the company's new modular engine platform, while retaining
established Scania features such as individual cylinder heads, the camshaft located high in the block, rear-mounted timing gears and the cyclone oil filter.
The in-line six-cylinder engines have more torque than previous models and single-circuit keel cooling. "Saver rings" at the top of
each cylinder liner reduce coke deposits and engine wear. The DI 13M's engine management system can be adjusted to suit individual applications, such as monitoring the transmission and fuel or fresh water levels.

QUIET WATER SOURCE
The Sea Recovery Aqua Whisper DX allows boat owners and skippers to customise features and pressure settings on the watermaker with its touch-screen display, digital menu and pictorial images of operating conditions.
The DX monitors product water quality (salinity), displays scheduled service intervals, hours of operation and flow rates, and can be interfaced with a computer. It has a quiet stainless steel plunger pump specially designed for seawater reverse osmosis and vibration insulation mounts. An efficient booster pump extends pre-filter life, while a new membrane element ensures the fresh water is of high quality. The six DX models produce from 1703 to 6814 litres per day.
