Grand Alaska Tour 9 GRAND ALASKA TOUR TEN DAYS, NINE NIGHTS Featuring Anchorage, Valdez, Fairbanks and Denali National Park Meals included: (B) Breakfast, (S) Snack, (L) Lunch, (D) Dinner DAY 1: Arrive in Anchorage and transfer to your hotel for your overnight stay. DAY 2: Travel by motor coach to Valdez, known as "Alaska's Little Switzerland"; drive through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and stop by Worthington Glacier along the way. Arrive in Valdez by early evening for your two-night stay. (B, D) DAY 3: Spend the morning exploring Valdez and the Valdez Museum. This afternoon, board a glacier and wildlife cruise and travel through the majestic Prince William Sound. Experience the three-mile face of the mighty Columbia Glacier and hear tales of the region as told by the Alaskan crew. Throughout the cruise, keep your eyes out for seals, sea lions, otters, whales and puffins. (B, L) DAY 4: Journey north by motor coach to Fairbanks, where you'll spend the next two nights. The route takes you along the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. (B) DAY 5: Enjoy a sightseeing tour with a visit to the Fairbanks Museum, time for shopping and dining on your own, and a traditional riverboat cruise on the Chena River. (B) DAY 6: Travel south by motor coach to Denali National Park, your home for the next two nights. Spend the afternoon at your leisure with a complimentary park service activity or optional tour (options include river rafting, flight-seeing, a jet boat safari or a visit to an Iditarod champion's award-winning dog kennel). (B) DAY 7: Experience a six- to eight-hour narrated Tundra Wilderness Tour, and search the vast wilderness for bears, moose, caribou and Dall sheep. Early May and September tours are shortened due to road conditions. (B, S) DAY 8: Spend your morning at leisure before boarding the world-famous Alaska Railroad to Anchorage, where you'll stay for the next two nights. Try to catch a glimpse of the majestic Mount McKinley or a black bear along the banks of the Susitna River.
