coupled to a ZF 500 1.75:1 gearbox running a Henleys 35x29
four bladed Tiger propeller.
David cannot speak highly enough of this propellor. The
Prospect draws 1.6m at the skeg when working with this
propeller tucked in clean water well under the hull and out of

on the starboard working side.
Remembering that this is not a light boat, the Volvo was able
to deliver a top speed of 20 knots at 1900rpm with an economical
service speed of 14 knots at 1400rpm. Interestingly, the speed
just about followed the rev range during sea trials.
During these trials at full 1900rpm the fuel consumption was
135lts per hour. Throttle back to 14 knots at 1400rpm resulted
in 70lts per hour. 10 knots at 1000rpm was 25lts per hour and
at idle 700rpm it was 7lts per hour. Because these vessels
