The origins of Schönbrunn date back
to 1569 when Holy Roman Emperor
Maximilian II built the original hunting
lodge, naming it Schönbrunn. In
1775, Empress Maria Theresa, the
only female ruler of the Hapsburgs,
commissioned the grand neoclassical
Gloriette colonnade. A guided tour of
