Rebuilt in the 18th century after the original 12th-century structure was destroyed by fire, the abbey stands as a testament to the resilience and cultural significance of the Benedictine order in Europe. The abbey's beautiful library houses priceless medieval manuscripts and marvellous frescoes by Paul Troger. The interior of the abbey's church is a kaleidoscope of red, orange and gold, featuring a magnificent carved pulpit and vibrant ceiling frescoes. The imperial rooms, now a museum, chronicle the abbey's history from its inception to modern times.
