This morning, you'll set out over the renowned Icefields Parkway, a picturesque route that winds through the Canadian Rockies past the ancient glaciers, vast icefields, broad sweeping valleys and pristine lakes that straddle the Continental Divide. After pausing to take in Maligne Canyon and Athabasca Falls, stop at the giant Columbia Icefield. Here, you'll board a specially-designed Ice Explorer vehicle and journey right onto the surface of Athabasca Glacier, formed from snow falling as long as 400 years ago. Having entered Banff National Park, stop to admire the turquoise waters of Peyto Lake before continuing on to the lovely mountain township of Banff and the magnificent 'Castle in the Rockies' – The Fairmont Banff Springs. After descending from the magnificent Canadian Rockies, you'll then travel through three of the province's fabled national parks – Yoho, Glacier and Mt Revelstoke – before arriving in the city of Kelowna, located in the wine-producing region of the Okanagan Valley. Departing Kelowna, this morning you'll follow the historic tracks of the early gold rush pioneers through the rugged Cariboo region.
