This morning, enjoy an excursion to Les Baux de Provence, one of 118 the most beautiful villages in France. Here, enjoy a tour of the castle followed by time to explore at leisure. Then visit Moulin du Calanquet, a working olive mill and farm in Saint-Rémy de Provence. Here, discover the age-old Provençal tradition of olive growing and enjoy a tasting. Alternatively, take the 'Impressionist Experience' tour to the Saint Paul de Mausole Asylum, where Vincent Van Gogh painted such well-known works as The Irises and Starry Night. Later this afternoon, your city tour of Arles takes you to the Romanesque cathedral and the Roman Amphitheatre. Early this evening, cruise to Avignon. BLD Day 6. Avignon, Viviers. In Avignon, perhaps take a tour through the narrow streets to the Palais des Papes, which served as a fortress, a church and a residence of the Popes that once governed the Christian world. Or you may like to visit Pont du Gard, a World Heritage-listed Roman aqueduct that's a masterpiece of engineering. You'll then enjoy time at leisure in the village of Uzès. Arrive in Viviers later this evening, where after dinner, you may join a 'Ghost Walk' through this largely abandoned medieval town.BLD Day 7. Viviers, Grignan, Tournon. After breakfast, enjoy an excursion to Grignan, a magnificent hilltop village surrounded by lavender fields. The village's Renaissance castle provides a commanding view of the area's beautiful countryside. Enjoy some free time to explore local shops for confections, home-made lavender soaps and other crafts. Rejoin the ship and cruise to Tournon. BLD Day 8. Tournon, Vienne. This morning visit Cornas, the premier producer of Côtes du Rhône wines, where you will enjoy a wine tasting. After lunch, the ship sails to Vienne, situated between the wine regions of Burgundy and Beaujolais, arriving in the late afternoon.BLD Day 9. Vienne, Lyon. Vienne's Roman past can be readily seen in its marvelously preserved ruins. This morning, enjoy a guided walking tour of Vienne and see the 1st-century Roman Temple of Augustus and Livia, the ruins of a Roman theatre, and the medieval churches of St Andre-Le-Bas and Abbey St Pierre. As an alternative, you may choose to visit the Chateau Roussillion and Pottery (when available). During lunch, your ship will depart for Lyon, where it will moor overnight. BLD Day 10. Beaujolais Region, Lyon. On a sightseeing tour of Lyon this morning, visit historic Vieux Lyon, the largest Renaissance district in the city. Later, enjoy an excursion to the Beaujolais wine region, the Pays d'Or or 'land of the golden stones' – named for the ochre limestone of its homes and castles. Visit the medieval hilltop village of Oingt and the home of a local vintner, where you will enjoy a wine tasting and vineyard tour, and learn about the history of wine production in the region. BLD TRAVEL TO PARIS Day 11. Lyon, Disembark, Paris. Disembark in Lyon and enjoy a cooking demonstration. Later, board a high-speed train to Paris, then transfer to your river ship on the Seine River.
