She was attached to Ngapona from 1981 till she was decommissioned and sold in May 1985. Paea was first sold to a Northland owner and subsequently a number of different others before being purchased by Jack Dodd who lived on the boat for 14 years. He travelled around New Zealand in her a couple of times with his dog Trixie, then settled at Picton Wharf and worked on restoring the boat back to its wartime configuration. Heather Reeve and Keith Nicholson purchased Paea from Jack in November 2008, and have since committed a lot of time and work to her restoration. Paea will be berthed at the Heritage Landing, Silo Park, Auckland Viaduct for her 70th birthday over the weekend of 9 ��� 10 March 2013.
