Kiwi boatbuilder could wish to hear. In signing off the vessels,
the Australian surveyor said to the owner: ���You know, for what
it���s worth, I doubt if you could get this number of purpose-built
vessels, of this quality and standard of finish, for the price in
Australia. I can���t fault them.���
Just about says it all really.
From start to finish this contract was a bit different. The client
gave just an overview of what he wanted and what he expected
the various boats to be able to do, then he left it to the builder to
come up with the best design and build concept for operational
needs and budget. So Carl took a range of ideas to these two
respected local designers who he had worked with before.
The brief was for a multi-role, alloy power cat. This changed
to two cats shortly after construction started: one propeller
driven, the other with Hamilton water jets. Each vessel had to be
capable of carrying up to 40 passengers, or a deck crane and
