Violet Crawley
Downton Abbey fans will be thrilled to see the
meddlesome matriarch of the Crawley family and her
distinctive dry wit on the big screen. Portrayed by
Maggie Smith, Violet will most likely continue to voice
her rather old-fashioned opinions while putting aside
her own misgivings to preserve the family's reputation
and maintain harmony in the household at all costs.
Lady Mary Josephine Talbot (née Crawley)
In the fi nal season of Downton Abbey, Lady Mary
married Henry Talbot and announced her pregnancy.
The fi lm's trailer seems to show her contemplating
leaving the Downton Abbey estate, so she is
expected to play a key role in many of the fi lm's
story arcs, just as she did in the television series.
Charles Carson
In the series fi nale of Downton Abbey, Carson begins
to suffer from palsy and retires from his position as
the manor's butler. However, the trailer for the fi lm
shows Lady Mary asking Mr Carson to return to
Downton Abbey in preparation for the royal visit.
