I'm keen to see as Businesses in New Zealand have a little way to go in terms of better understanding of what a good workplace could be. Most businesses unfortunately still have a lack of understanding of what 'difference' is and the benefits it can bring to an organisation and that includes gender equity. All organisations should be promoting their decisions on employing individuals not based on gender or the colour of someone's skin or the difficulty of pronouncing someone's name. We're on the road to make the right changes but we're not there yet. Bias only exists if you allow it to. Creating this positive workspace is not just the responsibility of the HR manager or of those employing staff.
