Two self-guided snorkel trails have been launched on Magnetic
Island, off the coast from Townsville. Beginners can enjoy the
Nelly Bay Snorkel Trail, which offers easy access from the beach,
a fascinating selection of corals, and five surface floats that
provide a place to rest. Suitable for more experienced snorkellers,
the Geoffrey Bay Snorkel Trail leads to the Moltke wreck, where
a good selection of fish can be spotted, and the engine block and
propeller of a CW-22B Curtiss Falcon that came down in WWII.
