The premises AES have occupied for the last nine years has been convenient for their clients in the recreational marine area, but AES would also like to make things a little easier for their clients in the commercial side of the industry, and so are hoping their new premises will be twice the size of their current site and 'on the doorstep' for clients operating the ships and vessels of the commercial fleet. Stephen Harris, AES managing director since 2003, has seen the company grow from a service operating out of the back of a van, to their current on site store, supported by a fleet of travelling sales representatives who service many engineering and boatbuilding businesses in the Auckland region. AES are proud of the range of products they sell. They are the New Zealand agents for the Wartsila range of deep-sea seals, Norma pipe couplings (stainless connectors and hose clamps), Castrol and Motul oils, and all the major tool brands. The staff work closely with Sanford and other fishing companies, as well as Fullers Ferries and the local charter boat fleet. They are a preferred supplier of tools and equipment to Team New Zealand, and to many of New Zealand's premium boatbuilders, and have over 200 overseas superyachts on their books. AES is also highly involved in motorsport. They supply hospitals, prisons, builders, mechanics: everyone down to your everyday DIY enthusiasts! They are also sponsors of many of New Zealand's motor racing events, including the European racing classics and SS2000 series, and individuals in motorsport and other activities. The AES range of supplies for refits, includes hoses and plumbing fittings, electrical equipment, belts, seals, general abrasives, oils and tooling. They also stock an extensive range of quality power and hand tools, abrasives, hose and hose fittings, fasteners, welding gear and general engineering equipment. "Black boats, white boats and pleasure boats - they all get the same level of service," says Steve. "You are all welcome to drop in when you're next in town." The staff at AES are proud of their high levels of personal service. They are happy to go the extra mile helping and supporting their clients. With backgrounds as mechanics, cabinetmakers, carpet layers and other trades, there is always someone who will be able to identify and satisfy a client's requirements. "If we don't have exactly what you're after, we are happy to get in exactly what you need. AES is part of the Trade Zone Industrial Group and has an experienced purchasing manager, so there is very little we can't find, and our 24-hour call-out service means we are available any time at short notice for those urgent bits when things go wrong."
