Sail overnight back to Japan and visit historic Hagi, capital of the Mori Clan, during the Feudal Age. Known as the 'town of water,' Matsue nestles between a scenic lake and a serene lagoon. Perhaps explore Matsue Castle before a cruise on the castle moat. Spend the day on Japan's sixth largest island, Sado. Visit the Taiko centre to learn about the famous drum's history. Explore the fishing village of Shukunegi, featuring traditional Edo-period houses. You may wish to take a ride aboard the unique local boats called tarai-bune, which resemble wooden tubs and are used for abalone fishing. Arrive this evening into Niigata. BLD Day 13. Niigata, Tokyo. Disembark your ship this morning and take the Bullet Train to Tokyo. On arrival enjoy an afternoon city tour including Meiji Shrine, Sensoji Temple and the Imperial Palace Plaza.
