62 | SOUTHEAST ASIA & JAPAN Day 1. Arrive Osaka, Embark Ship, Kobe. In Osaka arrive by 1pm and transfer to your small ship, moored in Kobe and enjoy a Welcome Dinner aboard as you set sail. 12 Night Stay: MS Caledonian Sky. D Day 2. Koraku-en, Kurashiki. Experience a tea ceremony in a traditional tea house in one of Japan's most famed gardens, Koraku-en. Wander along historic Kurashiki's koi filled canals to discover 17th-century wooden warehouses. Visit the Ohara Museum of Art, which includes rare works by Matisse, Picasso and Renoir. BLD Day 3. Miyajima, Hiroshima. Arrive in Miyajima, considered one of Japan's scenic wonders and go ashore to explore the World Heritage-listed Itsukushima Jinja Shrine. Alternatively, join one of your Expedition Team members for a walk to visit the shrine. Later, continue to Hiroshima and perhaps visit the Peace Memorial Park. Alternatively, go on a hike to Sandankyo Gorge. BLD Day 4. Uwajima. Arrive in the pearl cultivation centre of Uwajima, situated in Uwajima Bay. During a visit to a pearl farm, learn the process of implanting, harvesting, extracting and sorting these precious pearls. Afterwards, explore Sakiiya Square and the historic Daikakuji Temple. BLD Day 5. Yakushima. Pay a visit to Japan's first World Heritage- listed site, the island of Yakushima, and see the diversity of flora spending the afternoon on light nature walks, or embarking on a more active hike around the island. BLD Day 6. Nagasaki, Dejima. Arrive this morning in Nagasaki, the second city destroyed by an A-bomb in World War II. Tour the Peace Park, Atomic Bomb Museum and Dejima Island. Visit the European-style homestead, whose Clover Gardens are famous for being the setting of Puccini's opera, Madame Butterfly. BLD Day 7. Masan, Haeinsa. Sail overnight to South Korea and anchor in Masan. Take a tour inland to the Haeinsa Temple, regarded as one of the three great temples of Korea. Learn about ancient Buddhist traditions that date back to 802. Enjoy lunch in a nearby restaurant before returning to Masan where you can visit the vibrant fish market.
