PALACE ON WHEELS – INDIA India's Palace on Wheels is a hotel train that harks back to the colonial days of the Raj. Complete with Rajastani liveried attendants, and pulled by a steam locomotive, it runs between Delhi and Jodhpur, and is sure to be a memorable journey. SHATABDI EXPRESS – INDIA The Shatabdi Express is the fastest and most efficient way to travel by rail throughout India. This authentic local rail experience is the pride of its operator and is the favoured mode of travel of India's business professionals. It's a day-time only service that transports passengers between major Indian cities, such as Delhi and Agra, in air-conditioned comfort, and includes drinks, meals and snacks relevant to the time of the journey. DARJEELING HIMALAYAN RAILWAY – INDIA The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is a narrow gauge railway that was designed to take British colonial exiles from the heat of the Bengal plains to the cool, blissful heart of tea plantation country. The line is only around 80 kilometres long, but it ascends to almost 7,000 feet into the mountains. Construction began on this historic and challenging line in 1879 and was completed two years later. These days, restored vintage steam locomotives, similar to the originals, pull the carriages. 1. Bullet Trains speed across the Japanese countryside 2.
