JoStaveley "G Pacific Linen 2000 Ltd o with what you know" is something that has stuck with Jo Staveley, Company Director of Pacific Linen 2000 Ltd, from when she first studied economics at high school. "Ever since then I was on the lookout for a great business opportunity in a field that I really understood. " Supporting breast cancer research within the Waikato and beyond The Trust provides opportunities for Waikato women to be part of leading edge breast cancer care through clinical trials. We want the women of this region to have the best and are committed to improving breast cancer care & treatment. Phone 07 839 8726 ext 97916 PO Box 97, Hamilton 3240 www.wbct.org.nz Jo's secondary and tertiary education reads like a business blueprint – economics, accountancy, computer studies, typing, English, maths, certificates in hotel front of house and small business establishment and management, while her other interests lay in the arts such as dance, performance and fashion design. "I just knew from a young age that being a business owner was right for me, but I had to be doing something creative". Working a variety of roles in different industries such as hospitality, import/distribution, media, film, event production and entertainment, Jo Staveley gathered valuable skills that have helped her take a small home-based business, initially set-up 12 years ago by her mum, Carole and sister, Gaylene (both still business partners) and turn it into New Zealand's leading suppliers of speciality linen hire for the Party and Event Industry. Pacific Linen supplies small events like boutique weddings up to large scale corporate events such as the Richard Branson gala dinner at the Auckland Viaduct Centre for 1,400 people. They design and manufacture their own chair covers and table linens as well as importing lycra covers and chiavari chairs direct from China. Their in-house laundry allows full control of quality standards and the ability to quickly turn-over product to keep up with high seasonal demands and last minute orders. Jo attributes the combination of sound business skills, extensive knowledge of the event industry and her passion for fabulous fabrics and design to giving Pacific Linen the edge over other industry competitors. "I'm still just as passionate about the business as I was in the beginning. I love the industry and the people involved in it and I'm incredibly fortunate to have such fantastic and hard working business partners and staff. " www.pacificlinen.co.nz
