Through Fiona's background in sales and Dianne Sheetz B SlipOn Suimsuits orn on a dairy farm 76 years ago, Dianne Sheetz had a usual American upbringing. She attended high school, moved to the big city, married and raised three children. At the age of five her daughter, Keena began swimming lessons and subsequently joined a swim team. But never in Dianne's wildest dreams would she have guessed little Keena, at the age of 15 would hold a world record and win gold and bronze medals at the Munich Olympics in 1972. This was also the year that Dianne started Sprint Aquatics, which sold swimming goggles from Australia. In 1974, she fought FINA (International Swim Association) and a leading swimsuit company for four months to get the first lycra swimsuit legalised so all female swimmers in the world could swim wearing the same suit as the East Germans were wearing to win all the races. Through the 35 years Dianne managed Sprint Aquatics she designed and improved new 32 WHO'S WHO 2012 products for everything from competitive swimming to aqua aerobics to aqua therapy. "I got ideas from listening to peoples needs, solving the problems and then marketing the result," Dianne says. While Keena started out with just a nylon swimsuit and a towel, Sprint Aquatics increased their product range for all swimmers to over 100 products for the water, including education DVDs on arthritis, Parkinsons, fibromyalgia, post polio syndrome and helping the children in the water. Retired American competitive swimmer and MGM movie star, Esther Williams tested all aqua aerobic products and found Dianne's products to be the best. In appreciation Dianne designed a completely new kickboard for her, naming it the Starboard. Eight years ago Dianne was in the works to make a Parkinsons DVD for aquatic exercise when her next brilliant idea was born. "I was standing outside waiting for the class to marketing she found her passion for working with SMEs – "a model, " she says, "where you can make decisions quickly and see the results just as fast". Fiona is also a facilitator for the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and runs marketing mastering seminars throughout the year. She is a New Zealand certified facilitator and trainer for Tetramap – a programme that helps create high-performing teams in the work environment. She also presents to company conferences and groups on 'How to Increase Sales and Maximise Marketing' . Fiona has plans to run her own Auckland seminar in August for SMEs who want powerful and key strategies to increase business fast. www.bbsolutions.co.nz fionaclark@bbsolutions.co.nz Mobile: (021) 991 917 finish when a gentleman said, 'I have to wait 30 minutes for my wife to get out of her wet swimming suit' . 'That should not be after she just had an hour of exercise,' I replied. So I went to work and it took me eight months to solve this problem and get people in and out of a swimsuit in minutes. " Dianne's patent lawyer advised that the design should be kept in her name as a retirement nest egg. This turned out to be a Utility Patent because no one in the world had ever thought of how women get into swimsuits. It took another seven years to finish SlipOn Swimsuits with patents until 2025 in Australia, Japan, the United States, Canada and all of Europe. It turned out to be a classic looking swimsuit that all ages can wear. Dianne is now working on the 'little girl's suit' . www.sliponswimsuits.com
