Today following breakfast you'll enjoy a full day at leisure to explore the idyllic surrounds. B Day 9. Bay of Islands, Auckland. Like a Local – explore New Zealand's finest maritime park on a cruise to Cape Brett. Keep a look out for wildlife and cruise through the Hole in the Rock. Later, return to Auckland. Enjoy a special Farewell Dinner at the hotel tonight as your land journey comes to an end. Stay: Amora Hotel Auckland. B, FD Day 10. Auckland, Embark Holland America Line Cruise. Enjoy a city sights tour this morning, then transfer to the harbour this afternoon to be welcomed aboard your Holland America Line cruise ship, the ms Noordam. Stay (14 Night Cruise): ms Noordam. BD Day 11. Tauranga, Rotorua. Arrive this morning in the port of Tauranga. After breakfast, perhaps disembark the ship for a coach transfer to nearby Rotorua where you can select from a number of sightseeing options. Movie buffs may be tempted to visit the Hobbiton Movie Set where you will gain an enthralling insight into the making of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Other options include overlooking the city, down to Lambton Quay, the main shopping street. Optional shore excursions include a Lord of the Rings tour where you will visit some of the locations featured in the famous film trilogy or a Seal Coast Safari to discover the rugged and unique beauty of the south coast in a 4WD vehicle, driving along unpaved roads and beaches to where a seal colony is situated. BLD Day 14. Picton. Overnight your ship has crossed the Cook Strait and is now in the waters of the South Island. You may choose to disembark in the port of Picton* which is the gateway to New Zealand's famous Marlborough wine growing region. Shore excursions include a spectacular Sounds Seafood Cruise or a Wines of Marlborough tour. Another option is to visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum. BLD Day 15. Akaroa, Christchurch. Today, ms Noordam arrives in the charming port town of Akaroa, which is the gateway to Christchurch, on the South Island's Canterbury Plains. Today's shore excursions include a city tour of Christchurch, which is continuing its recovery from the devastating earthquake of 2011, and is known as a city of 'arts, adventure and optimism'. Other options include a Nature Cruise around the beautiful natural harbour of Akaroa, that was formed by an ancient volcano eruption, to learn more about its fascinating geological history and rich marine life. Another option is to take a Scenic Helicopter Flight and view the stunning scenery of the coast and countryside from above. BLD learning about Maori culture at Maoria Marae, a traditional Maori meeting place, or many may choose to eperience the thrilling sight of erupting geysers at Hell's Gate Thermal Reserve. Others may prefer to relax and enjoy the scenery during a cruise on Lake Rotoiti, one of nine beautiful lakes in the district. A coach transfer will then return you to the ship in time for dinner and departure to the next port. BLD Day 12. Napier. This morning the ms Noordam arrives in the port of Napier in Hawke's Bay. Known as the 'art deco city', Napier is famous for both its distinctive architecture, and as a centre for gourmet food and wine. Napier's dominating art deco building style emerged as a result of its rapid rebuilding after a devastating earthquake in 1931. You can learn more about this on an Art Deco Highlights tour, or perhaps you may choose to take a tour of Hawke's Bay Wineries. Other options include a visit to Clifton Station, a working sheep farm and a tour of the Tuki Tuki Valley and Te Mata Peak. Another possibility is a visit to the Clearview and Abbey Cellars where you can learn about the history of wine making in the region and sample some of Hawke's Bay's finest wines at the cellar door. BLD Day 13. Wellington. This morning your ship docks in Wellington, New Zealand's charming capital. The city is famous for its busy harbour, its colourful timber houses on the surrounding hills, and its Botanic Gardens which feature 25 acres of ponds, sculptures and beautiful native flora.
