Arrive Launceston, Beaconsfield. On arrival, transfer to your hotel In Launceston. After settling in, enjoy a journey following the Tamar River. A Taste of Tasmania – this evening, enjoy canapés and a Welcome Drink at the James Boag's Brewery, followed by a Welcome Dinner. Stay: Launceston, Best Western Plus. FD Day 2. Launceston, Freycinet National Park, Bicheno. Drive through the wine-producing area of northern Tasmania. Like a Local – at Bridestowe Lavender Estate, enjoy a tour of the distillery and sample the lavender- inspired fare. Next it's on to East Coast Natureworld, where you'll meet a Tasmanian devil and other native animals. Like a Local – travel into Freycinet National Park and enjoy a walk with a naturalist guide. Then continue on to Bicheno. Later, perhaps gain an insight into the lives of little penguins (see page 29). Stay: Beachfront Bicheno. BD Day 3. Bicheno, Ross, Richmond, Hobart. Discover the historic heart of Tasmania at Campbell Town and Ross. Then travel via Richmond, home to the Richmond Bridge, on the way to Hobart, where you'll enjoy a city tour. Like a Local – embark on a tour of the Port Arthur Historic Site, once Australia's most notorious convict prison. Later, join a cruise around the Isle of the Dead. Soak up the old-world charm and lively culture of Hobart today during a tour of Salamanca Place, Constitution Dock and the harbour. Then visit Salamanca Market and peruse the treasures of Tasmania at more than 300 stalls. B Day 6. Hobart. During a full day at leisure today, you may like to step out and further explore Tasmania's striking capital. Perhaps tour Australia's oldest brewery or visit the unique Museum of Old and New Art (see page 29). B Day 7. Hobart, Embark Coral Expeditions I. After a free morning, board Coral Expeditions I, moored on the Derwent River. At the Captain's Welcome Drinks tonight, indulge in Tasmanian cheese, Bruny Island oysters and sparkling wine as you toast your first night on the water Stay (Seven Nights): Coral Expeditions I. BD Day 8. Grandvewe Cheeses, Recherche Bay. A Taste of Tasmania – the morning takes you to Grandvewe Cheeses, a true Tasmanian institution. Meet the herd responsible for some of Australia's finest sheep cheese and sample award-winning produce.
