T H I N G S T O K N O W B E F O R E Y O U G O HEALTH AND SAFETY TIPS FOR TRAVELERS As you are about to embark on a foreign vacation, there are certain things of which you need to be aware. Apple Vacations strongly recommends that you visit the portion of United States Department of States' website http://travel.state.gov/index.html, which deals with foreign travel. Specifically, you should read tips on foreign travel and travel warnings for Cuba. Although foreign travel is exciting and rewarding, you must keep in mind that you are not traveling in the United States and extra caution is required to make your trip happy and successful. Just a few of the issues you need to be aware of are: medical standards and training of emergency responders and resort medical facilities vary greatly. Health care abroad may not be the same as you might expect at home. Many resort pools and beaches may lack lifeguards. Balcony railing heights are lower than the mandated heights in the United States. Low balcony railings create a risk of falls, which may result in serious injury or death. Bottled drinking water is recommended. In tropical climates, we strongly recommend the use of insect repellent, especially during rainy season. RESERVATIONS/PAYMENT/LATE BOOKINGS For availability and confirmation of your chosen vacation package, see your travel agent or call 1-800-517-2000. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations require you to provide your full name, date of birth, and gender at the time of booking for the purpose of watch-list screening. Failure to provide this information will result in you not being allowed to travel. For details, visit www.tsa.gov. Late bookings will incur a late booking fee of $10 per person on all reservations made 14 days or less before departure to cover additional costs for faxing, updating and confirming your accommodations. ITEMS NOT INCLUDED A Cuban departure tax of $25 USD per person is not included and payable at the Miami airport upon departure. Tips to housekeeping staff at hotels are not included. Some meals are not included as specified in the tour itineraries. Passport fees, laundry, telephone calls, other items and services of a personal nature, and tips to airport baggage handlers are not included in the price of your vacation. Unless specified, wines, liquors, meals, sightseeing and excursions are also not included in the price of your vacation. Airlines may also charge additional fees such as seat assignment or meal fees. Check with the airline for specific charges. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS Requirements as outlined below may change, so see your travel agent to be accurately advised of current requirements. Proper documentation is your responsibility. The following information gives current requirements for United States citizens, effective at time of printing: Passengers of all ages returning to the U.S. by air from any international destination must have a valid passport in good condition, and passengers may be denied boarding by the airline if passport is damaged, mutilated, or has excessive wear. If your name on your passport (or for non-U.S. citizens, valid travel documents) does not match your name on your travel vouchers/tickets, you will not be allowed to travel. A passport valid for a minimum of 6 months after the completion of travel is required for U.S. citizens traveling to Cuba. Requirements may change, so check with the Cuban Embassy in Washington D.C. at 202-797-8518/8519. For details on how to obtain a passport, contact your local courthouse or post office. For information on obtaining expedited passports visit www.abriggs.com/applevac. If you are not a U.S. citizen, contact the embassy of the country to which you are traveling to determine required entry documents. We regret that we cannot accept minors under 18 for travel to Cuba. Failure to comply with the above requirements will result in you not being allowed to travel. All foreign passport holders and U.S. residents are solely responsible for their legal immigration status and their ability to return into the United States. Cuba Travel Services (CTS) and Apple Vacations cannot be held liable for anyone who is refused service by the Carrier Service Provider or entry into Cuba because of a restricted U.S. visa or passport or denial of a visa by the Cuban government. If a traveler is denied entry into Cuba for any immigration, visa or passport issues or denial of a visa by the Cuban government, all cancellation terms and conditions apply. DENIAL OF ENTRY Certain countries may deny entry to travelers with even a minor criminal record, and if not a U.S. citizen, entry back into the United States. Check with the Cuban Embassy in Washington D.C. at 202-797-8518/8519 to ensure you can travel as planned. AIRPORT CHECK-IN Check-in begins three hours prior to departure at the airline ticket counter. Under no circumstances should you check-in later than one hour prior to departure. Late check-in WILL result in you not being allowed to travel. BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE Many airlines are charging fees for checked and/or carry-on bags and have different baggage allowances and fees. Please check with your airline for specifics. Carry-on luggage is limited to one bag per person and must be small enough to fit beneath the seat in front of you; some airlines have a carry-on bag fee. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT EXCESS/OVERSIZED BAGGAGE MAY BE DENIED AT CHECK-IN and if accepted, there will be additional charges. Anyone attempting to check-in excess baggage should arrive at the ticket counter a minimum of 3 hours prior to departure, or risk being denied boarding. Apple Vacations accepts no liability for loss or damage to luggage. We recommend that passengers consider the use of a TSA approved lock to secure their luggage. For details on baggage insurance, see your travel agent. INSECTICIDE NOTICE Some countries require insecticide spraying of aircraft prior to a flight or while you are on the aircraft. Please refer to http://airconsumer.dot.gov/ spray.htm for more information.
