63 NORTHERN EUROPE Day 7. Bygstad. Absorb the stunning scenery in and around Bygstad then continue to the open-air Sunnfjord Museum, home to a number of antiquarian buildings set in an authentic cultural landscape. After stopping to explore, a particularly picturesque drive takes you to the stunning region of Norway known as 'waterfall country'. BLD Day 8. Nordfjord, Olden. Sail into Nordfjord, which cuts its way inland to the mighty icefields of the Jostedal Glacier. Arrive at the village of Olden and pass beautiful lakes on the way to the spectacular Briksdal Glacier. Walk to the viewing point, where you will take in the awe-inspiring spectacle. BLD Day 9. Trondheim. Arrive in the city of Trondheim today, founded in 997 and the capital of Norway during the Viking Age, until 1217. Discover what is thought to be the world's oldest open-air museum, the Norwegian Folk Museum, with its vintage buildings, stave church and Sami huts. Learn what daily life was like for Norwegian people from the 16th century through to the present day. Should you be feeling more active, you might like to embark on a guided nature walk, led by your Expedition Team's wonderful naturalist guide. BLD Day 10. Torghatten, Svartisen, Freedom of Choice. Arrive by Zodiac in Torghatten, where you will choose from two different guided walks. Later this afternoon, cross the Arctic Circle, then arrive at Svartisen. After dinner this evening, set off on a walk to the view the impressive Svartisen Glacier in the midnight sun. BLD Day 11. Lofoten Islands, Svolvaer, Trollfjorden. Enjoy a full day to explore the pretty archipelago of Lofoten. Head to the tiny hamlet of Borg for a visit to Lofotr, a Viking museum that contains the world's largest Viking longhouse. Rejoin the ship in Svolvaer, and be on deck as you sail through the beautiful, narrow and steep-sided Trollfjorden, enjoying the remarkable birdlife and waterfalls. BLD Day 12. Bleiksøya Island, Andenes. Admire the birdlife on the tiny island of Bleiksøya, containing the largest concentration of puffins in Norway with more than 80,000 pairs. Continue to Andenes, where you will visit the Northern Lights Museum and see a massive skeleton of a sperm whale at the Whale Centre. BLD Day 13. Disembark Ship, Tromso. Disembark your ship and be transferred to the airport.
