Arrive Copenhagen. Be met on arrival and transfer to your hotel. This evening, get to know your Tour Director and fellow travellers at a Welcome Reception. Enjoy a city tour of Copenhagen, taking in the wonderful bridge- spanned canals, copper-roofed buildings and manicured parks. Visit the famous bronze sculpture of the Little Mermaid, commemorating the fairytale written by Hans Christian Andersen. Continue to Amalienborg Palace, the prime residence of Princess Mary's Danish Royal Family. This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. BD Day 3. Copenhagen, Vadstena. Today, farewell Denmark and travel through some incredible scenery on the way into Sweden. Arrive in Vadstena, where you will stay at a beautiful historic hotel. Vadstena was once the location of a Catholic monastery for monks and nuns, and your hotel is largely located in the same medieval buildings that were once the monastery. Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening. Stay: Vadstena Klosterhotel. BLD Day 4. Vadstena, Stockholm. After breakfast, set out on a guided tour of Vadstena, including Vadstena Castle. Built by King Gustav Vasa in 1545, the castle was originally intended to shield Stockholm from possible attacks by the Danes and the Smålanders. However, plans changed and the castle was transformed into a Renaissance palace for Duke Magnus, the King's son. Stop at a local restaurant for lunch on your way to Stockholm. Set out on a guided sightseeing tour of Stockholm, discovering the different islands linked by many bridges.
