Day 6. Mitchell Falls, Helicopter Flight. Today you have a full day to discover the beauty of Mitchell Falls, with its magnificent waterfalls and Indigenous art. When available, local Aboriginal guides will join the adventure, imparting their knowledge of the area and sharing their cultural beliefs. Begin with a guided hike to Little Mertens Falls to view rarely seen Aboriginal art. Continue to Big Mertens Falls before arriving at Mitchell Falls. With superb scenery and rich culture, you can swim in the pools above the falls and spot the region's abundant wildlife. We have also included a helicopter flight over Mitchell Falls and the surrounding wilderness back to the vehicle (or, if you prefer, hike back with your guide). Longer helicopter flights over this captivating and remote coastline are available at additional expense. Then, it's time to return to your wilderness lodge to relax, knowing you have just experienced a day most people can only dream of. Perhaps spend some time in front of the camp fire recounting today's tales. BLD Day 7. Mitchell Plateau, Gibb River Road, Home Valley Station. Rejoin the Gibb River Road and ford the mighty Durack River before arriving at Home Valley Station, an immense cattle property. Discover the spellbinding scenery that captivated audiences in Baz Luhrmann's movie 'Australia', including the imposing yet strikingly beautiful backdrop of the majestic Cockburn Range. Australia's Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) purchased Home Valley Station on behalf of the Balanggarra people (Home Valley Station) and the Nyaliga people (Karunjie and Durack River Stations) of the East Kimberley, who are the traditional owners. Here you'll enjoy an overnight stay in this inspirational setting. Stay: Home Valley Station. BLD Day 8. Home Valley Station, El Questro Wilderness Park, El Questro Gorge (Difficulty: Medium-Hard, Distance: 6-7km, Duration: 6 Hours). Cross the Pentecost River into El Questro Wilderness Park, covering a staggering one million acres. Explore the majesty of El Questro Gorge. Walk along a narrow spring-fed creek, 1.3 kilometres through fern-dressed escarpments while rock hopping to a small swimming hole and unwind in the rainforest environment. If conditions are permitting, there is a further two kilometres to the end of the gorge walk through more adventurous terrain. The extended section will take approximately two hours. Depending on seasonal water-flows and local conditions, the walk may change to the stunning Amalia Gorge. Tonight, absorb the serene surroundings before indulging in a delicious dinner with your fellow travellers. Stay: El Questro, Emma Gorge Resort. BLD Day 9. El Questro Wilderness Park, Emma Gorge, Wyndham, Kununurra. Continue to explore the remarkable El Questro Wilderness Park. Hike to the picturesque Emma Gorge and take a refreshing dip in its large waterhole set at the base of a towering 65-metre cliff, graced by a droplet waterfall. Afterwards, head to Wyndham and view the breathtaking Cambridge Gulf from the Five Rivers Lookout. Enjoy lunch at an iconic outback pub before visiting Parry's Lagoon, a birdwatcher's paradise. Later, arrive in the township of Kununurra for dinner. Two Night Stay: Kununurra Country Club Resort. BLD Day 10. Ord River, Lake Kununurra. Travel to the majestic Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the Southern Hemisphere. Join a spectacular wildlife cruise on the mighty Ord River. From modern shaded vessels, discover a fascinating ecological system that has developed from the damming of the Ord River at two locations to create an area rich in wildlife, flora and undeniable beauty. Enjoy a mesmerising sunset while cruising on the tranquil Lake Kununurra. This evening, spend your time at leisure, and perhaps explore the township of Kununurra or relax at your hotel. B Day 11. Purnululu National Park, Echidna Chasm. Depart Depart Kununurra and journey to Purnululu National Park, one of Australia's most stunning natural landscapes. The park is home to the famed black and orange striped domes of the Bungle Range, ascending to 578 metres above sea level. Standing over a grass-covered plain, steep cliffs form the western face. Created by the constant erosion of river movements over a staggering 20 million years, the range has both geological and Indigenous cultural significance. It is an imposing sight and one that you are sure to remember forever. Join a hike along a Livistona palm-fringed trail into Echidna Chasm, a spectacular natural cleft in the rock. Settle into the tranquil ambience of the Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, located in the heart of this stunning national park. Enjoy a delicious dinner and share your adventures around the camp fire with your fellow travellers. Two Night Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge. BLD Day 12. Piccaninny Gorge (Difficulty: Medium, Distance: 7-9km, Duration: 6 Hours). Set off today to explore one of the most spellbinding places on earth. Explore the magic of Purnululu for yourself and discover the depth of the Bungle Bungle Range. Walk along Piccaninny Creek, a winding gorge within the high walls of the Bungle Bungle domes. Your next stop is the natural amphitheatre of Cathedral Gorge, a spacious cavern where the acoustics are astounding. Marvel at the majestic beehive domes as you walk towards the entrance of Picaninny Gorge and return via the Picaninny Creek lookout. This is sure to be one of the most outstanding days in your hiking trip. This evening, enjoy sunset drinks as the sun goes down on the Bungle Bungle massif. BLD Day 13. Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing.
