My name is Syna. I think you're probably wondering why my name is Syna... it is because I am from India. But I moved to this fantastic place called New Plymouth. We have parks which are free. At the end of the year we have a Festival of Lights. Be nice and warm when you go up our mountain. It's really cold up there. Sometimes it even snows up there – SYNA BINDRA, 8 I am nine years old and I love exactly how I am. My favourite sport is netball. I used to play football but that was in South Africa. I stopped because we moved to New Plymouth, New Zealand. I chose St John Bosco School because it is called 'the happy school' which is true. We have a teacher, Mrs Wright. I like Mrs Wright because she is very self controlled and very, very nice. I love New Plymouth… come and see it! It is a very safe place. I like all the shops. They are cool. I love the clock tower and the water is nice and clean – ERIN CARDY, 9 New Plymouth is like a wonder of the world! I like running to the end of Peringa Park and going to the wetlands. My favourite thing is learning about world history, space and dinosaurs. My favourite hobby is stamp collecting and money collecting. My favourite subject is maths. I love maths so much and I can do everything in maths – multiplicative thinking, division, adding, subtracting, and fractions. I also collect cards and rocks – ANTHONY VAN HAMEREN, 9 Promise me you will always remember: You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think – CHRISTOPHER ROBIN to POOH www.upstartmag.co.nz 55
