VA-NAK-KAM (Good day ! – in Tamil) My name is PRISHLISAA ANNE LAWERANCE. I am an Indian from Malaysia. I was eight months old when I moved to New Zealand. I was born on 1 August 2002. I lived seven years in Wellington and celebrated two birthdays in New Plymouth. Can you guess how old I am now? Well, I am 9 years old now. This is me at Holy Communion I have three older sisters. My oldest sister is 17 years old and her name is Presshini. My second sister turned 14 in December and her name is Prishlena. My third sister is 12 years old and her name is Preethi. My mum's name is Juliana and my dad works in Malaysia. I miss him but at least we see him every year when we visit him and the rest of the family in Malaysia. My Aunty Liz lives with us. Although I was born and baptized in Malaysia, I received my First Holy Communion in New Plymouth from Father Peter, my parish priest. My favourite sport is netball and I also enjoy indoor netball. I do Tae Kwon Do and I am a green strip by rank. I have two chickens at home. One is mine and the other belongs to Preethi. My chicken has brown strokes down its neck and Preethi's is black. Now, about my city… New Plymouth is well known for its walkways along the coast. It has a famous and very long walkway that goes right from the Bell Block to the Port. We have the famous bridge called Te Rewa Rewa which won the title of Best Short Bridge in the world. We have a wind wand right next to the sea. And we have Mount Taranaki. It snows heavy on the mountain and this year we had the best snow. I had a chance to play in it. We also have clean beaches in New Plymouth and a black sand beach. New Plymouth is well known for its outdoor activities such as mountain climbing, surfing, fishing and many others. It has a small town and I love the many parks. I love my city. This is me receiving my Holy Communion certificate from Father Peter 54 February / March 2012 ch 2012 POI-E-TU VA-RAN UPSTART! (Goodbye Upstart – in Tamil) Love makes a family.
