28 Day 1. Arrive Beijing. On arrival in Beijing, be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel near the Silk Market. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Reception. Stay (Three Nights): Beijing, Jianguo Hotel. Day 2. Beijing, Forbidden City. This morning's sightseeing begins with a visit to Tiananmen Square, before exploring the vast squares and palaces of the Forbidden City. Afterwards, enjoy time at leisure. A Taste of China – tonight, savour a delicious Peking Duck banquet at a local restaurant. Enhance Your Journey: explore the World Heritage-listed Summer Palace (see page 38). BD Day 3. Beijing, Great Wall of China. Today head for the Great Wall of China, and absorb fantastic views during a cable car ride to the Mutianyu section, one of the best-preserved parts of the wall. Later, visit the Sacred Way of the Ming Dynasty Tombs, and visit a jade polishing factory before returning to the city via the Beijing National Stadium (the Bird's Nest). Enhance Your Journey: attend a dramatic Kung Fu show this evening (see page 38). BL Day 4. Beijing, Yichang, Embark Cruise. Like a Local – enjoy a pedicab tour of Beijing's charming old hutongs (alleys), and stop along the way to visit the home of a local Chinese family to learn more about traditions and culture. Later, head to the airport for your flight to Yichang. Transfer to your river ship, settle in, and enjoy dinner on board. Stay (Four Nights): MS Victoria Anna or MS Victoria Selina. BLD Day 5. Three Gorges Dam, Xiling Gorge. Relax today and take in the stunning scenery of the Yangtze River as you cruise through the Three Gorges region. Disembark to tour the incredible Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest electricity-generating plant of any kind. Later, cruise through Xiling Gorge, the longest and deepest of the Three Gorges. BLD Day 6. Daning River, Wu Gorge, Qutang Gorge. Today's excursion takes you to the Daning River, home to the smaller but equally spectacular Three Lesser Gorges. Continue on through Wu Gorge, known for its sheer peaks and cliff faces. Pass between the Chijia and Baiyan Mountains on the way to Qutang Gorge, the narrowest and most dramatic of the Three Gorges. BLD Day 7. Shibaozhai. Arrive today at the base of a steep hill, into which is built Shibaozhai, a striking red pagoda. Disembark and explore the pagoda's 12 floors – each of which contains a range of unique artefacts. Later, (subject to river conditions) there is an option to visit the 'Ghost City' of Fengdu (additional cost). BLD Day 8. Chongqing, Disembark Ship, Xi'an. Disembark for the final time this morning in Chongqing. Head to the Chongqing Zoo to see the famous giant pandas. Later, board your included flight to Xi'an.
